Cosmic Microwave Postdoctoral Fellow - 83174
Organization: PH-Physics
Postdoctoral Positions in Cosmic Microwave Background Research at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory
Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL, http://www.lbl.gov/) invites applications for postdoctoral positions in cosmology, instrumentation for cosmology, and software development for cosmology research, to begin in Fall 2017. Candidates with interest in the observation of cosmic microwave background (CMB) and instrumentation or computing for CMB experimentation are especially encouraged to apply. The successful candidates are expected to carry out original research in science and/or instrumentation related to the POLARBEAR, Simons Array, Simons Observatory, and/or CMB-S4 experiments.
The Physics Division pursues a broad portfolio of experimental research including high-energy collider physics (ATLAS),neutrino physics (DUNE, Daya Bay), cosmology (DESI, WFIRST, Type Ia Supernovae, DES, eBOSS, LSST), and Cosmic Microwave Background experiments (POLARBEAR, Simons Array, Simons Observatory, CMB-S4), and direct detection of dark matter (LZ). We also have a long tradition of research in theoretical physics, in advanced detector development, and in high-performance computing (NERSC).
Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Physics or Astronomy or expect to receive one by the summer of 2017. They should have at least one year of experience in cosmology or related research as a graduate student or as a postdoc. He/she should have demonstrated ability to work as part of a collaborative team as well as to work independently.
