Applications are invited for up to two Research Associate (RA) positions in the Theoretical Physics Group of the Department of Physics at Imperial College London. Appointments will be for two years, with possibility of an extension for up to five years in total for exceptional candidates. The positions are funded by an ERC Consolidator Grant titled “Massive Gravity and Cosmology”. The RA will work with Dr Claudia de Rham and will also interact with other members of the Theory Group. The successful candidate must have a PhD degree in Theoretical Physics (either awarded or anticipated) or an equivalent level of professional qualifications and experience.
Essential criteria include outstanding research experience in theoretical and/or observational tests of modified gravity, cosmology, quantum field theory, effective field theory approaches or related topics. The candidates will have experience in carrying out research of high quality, independently and in a team, with evidence provided by publications of high quality. It is also desirable that the successful candidate has experience in developing and testing consistent models of modified gravity and be familiar with theories of massive gravity.
The successful candidate will be expected to help produce independent and original research within the Theoretical Physics group and submit publications to refereed journals and help with teaching and administration of small research groups.
