Description:
The Georgia Institute of Technology invites applications for a postdoctoral appointment in gravitational wave physics within its Center for Relativistic Astrophysics (CRA). The area of interest is the search for gravitational wave transients in Advanced LIGO data, with emphasis on detector characterization and data validation, under the supervision of Professor Laura Cadonati. The starting date is Summer 2017, and the position will remain open until filled.
Successful candidates will join an energetic team with a strong program in gravitational wave and multi messenger astrophysics. The faculty at the CRA are David Ballantyne (high energy astrophysics), Tamara Bogdanovic (astrophysics & cosmology), Laura Cadonati (gravitational wave physics), Pablo Laguna (computational astrophysics & numerical relativity), Nepomuk Otte (particle astrophysics), Deirdre Shoemaker (gravitational wave physics & numerical relativity), Ignacio Taboada (particle astrophysics) and John Wise (cosmology).
Application materials will be accepted electronically. Applicants should upload 1) a cover letter, 2) curriculum vitae, including a full list of publications, 3) a research statement and 4) 3 reference letters. Information on the submission of three letters of reference is provided during the on-line application process. Review of complete applications will begin December 31, 2016.
